If Mike Tyson was "washed up" and "only did it for the money" when he fought Lewis then Holmes was washed up and only did it for the money when he fought Tyson. You can't have it both ways, Tyson fanboys. Don't give me this "Larry Holmes went on to beat Ray Mercer." Larry Holmes, when he fought Tyson, was retired and completely inactive for 2 years. Don King offered him $ so he trained less than two months, didn't take any easy fights to get rid of ring rust, and straight out fought for the championship of the world. Tyson fought the worst version of Holmes. The Holmes in the 90's trained hard and worked his way up from easy opposition to tougher opposition. But never nearly as good as he was in his prime. If you don't give Lewis credit then don't give Tyson credit for this. You can't have it both way. This was the worst Larry Holmes. Yes, Larry fought the worst version of Ali too. Did Lewis fight the worst version of Tyson? Not the best version, that's for sure. But don't take away credit from Lewis unless you take away credit from Tyson for this. It's only fair.
